Sixteen Hundred Plates

Today was the fourth annual Jesus Banquet.  Marc left at 5:00 a.m. and went to get the cooks so they could start early.  The rest of us left Santa Ana on the bus a few minutes before 7:00.  When we got there, the cooks were very busy.

But, no tables and chairs.   We can't have everything.  After all, it is Honduras.

People were arriving, many dressed up.  Why shouldn't they be; they were going to a banquet.

A little later than planned, the chairs and tables arrived.  We all got to work unloading.

Believe it or not, the first plate of food was served at 11:15.
From the youngest,
to the oldest, everyone participated
Luis worked all day.

Corey made new friends.

A sea of umbrellas protected from the heat.  But, it was not as hot as it was that very first year.

Watermelon was a huge hit.

When it was all said and done, we had served 1,600 plates of food.

It was a long day.  It was a good day.  Everyone is tired.  But, I can't think of a better tired.
