Rising Prices

It is national news. Food prices have gone up and will go up more. I am sure you have felt it. What do people do when they have chosen to not send their kids to school so the kids can be fed and then food prices rise? What do people do when they have two major expenditures, bus fare and food? Due to rising fuel costs, bus fare is going up also. In order to get to work, bus fare must be paid. Buy a little less food. What do people do when they are already spending 80% or more of their income on food? Everyone will be buying less food. More people that make only $5.00 per day or less will be starving. Literally starving. The price of rice is up, the price of beans is up, the price of eggs is up. With the rationing of rice in the states at places like Sam's and Costco, that may cause the price of rice to rise even more. That is a staple here. It is something people eat when there is nothing else to eat.

In addition to food prices going up, the cost of building materials have risen. The things we need to build homeless people homes. Wood is up, tin is up, nails are up and hinges are up. The very things we need to construct a house.

In just a few weeks our groups will be here. The money they have raised all year will not feed as many hungry people nor build as many houses as it has in years past.

It makes me sad that hungry people are going to be even hungrier.

i just complained the other day about how much it cost me to fill up our car with gas and was so irritated about it but i should be thankful i am not starving. reading your blogs helps keep me centered and really puts things into perspective at times. the day you wrote about the milkman coming and the people brought a cup for that day only to be filled.... here i am with a kitchen full of food and run to the store anytime we run out of the slightest thing because it is something we "have" to have simply because it is a good snack between meals. i pray that even though things get harder with rising prices hungry people will be fed somehow. terri, you have an amazing heart that empathizes with others and i know god loves you so much for that....and so do i! carla

Dear Terri,
I'm too traumatized to put my feelings into words right now but maybe later. I agree with Carla very much. I agree with you for certain. It makes me sad too that hungry people are going to be hungrier.
Only God can make things right for these innocent hungry ones. If ever they need a miracle it is now.
God can do that. Love, Ginger

even Jesus needed some loaves and fishes to get started... We are a country so rich and fat and smug that we say 'oh that's terrible...poor people'..then open our refrigerator and grab a coke and ice cream and turn on our super energy consuming t.v.'s or drive our gas guzzling S.U.V.'s out to a movie... I need to send you a donation to help feed folks. ol' Aunt Linda
